A: 8 total: 2 in Homer; 2 in Anchor Point; 1 in Kenai; 2 in Sterling; 2 in Moose Pass
How many home visits have been conducted so far?
A: Around 10 home visits have been conducted to date.
How long does a home visit take?
A: Typically, 1-2 hours.
How quickly can an appointment be made?
A: It usually take 2-4 weeks for a visit as we have about 130 sign-ups so far.
What are the main things the team members focus on during a home visit?
A: Teams focus on adjacent fuels and home construction.
What don't the team members do?
A: Clean up the yards, stay for dinner or ask for money!
How long will the team members be working on the Peninsula?
A: Teams will conduct home visits until mid- to late August.
Is this a one-year project or will the team members be available next year?
A: This is the only year that the home visit program is funded so far on the Peninsula.
What is it hoped the teams will accomplish this season?
A: The team hopes to accomplish a full scale outreach of quality educational FireWise materials and as many personalized home visits as possible in one season. We would also like to bring the concept of FireWise for All Seasons to a practical working level for easy implementation by Peninsula homeowners!
How will you know if they are the offical FireWise Team members?
A: They will have shirts and vest that have an embroidered FireWise logo or you may ask to see their Borough ID Card.
